From the Archive: A Dress Seven Years in the Making
Seven years ago, in WED's very first season, the team developed a drape that was technically one of the most complex they had ever attempted, and one that never went anywhere. It sat in the archive, unfinished business. This year, that drape became the wedding dress of WED's own founder.
This short film by Lily Vetch follows the process of bringing it back: research, draping and pattern cutting led by founders Amy Trinh and Evan Phillips, reworking the original idea into something far more elevated than where it started. From early toiles to the final fitting, it is a look at how a piece of WED's history finally found its moment. A dress seven years in the making, in more ways than one.
